Team

Happiness Starts at Home.

We are a team that beats with the same heartbeat!

Bhutan Travel Club or BTC was established in the year 2008 by Pelden Dorji – a travel veteran and adventurer at heart. He had been working for the Royal Government of Bhutan for 10 years as a Sustainable Tourism Advisor where he had contributed in making policy decisions for the tourism sector and had the opportunity to travel all over Bhutan conducting feasibility studies for potential tourism experiences. His experience in the sector and his love for travel and adventure was a natural evolution towards venturing into the travel business with a single motive to create life-changing and transformative travel experiences for his guests.

It is this passion that drives Bhutan Travel Club as a company committed to give the best of Bhutan through meaningful travel exchanges. Pelden is an avid mountain biker having completed the Tour of the Dragon – a prestigious endurance bike race which is one of the longest one-day mountain-bike races in the world with 268km of riding in a day, and winning the Asian Enduro Series in Nepal in 2017 and 2018. We position ourselves as the soft-adventure specialist in Bhutan focusing on immersive cultural experiences combined with the love for mountain biking, motorcycling and trekking.

Today we are a leading in-bound travel agent in Bhutan, accredited by the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB), a member of the Association of the Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO) and a member of The International Eco-Tourism Society(TIES). We are a company that was audited by CBI Netherlands for our quality assurance and certified by Travelife.

A company that is grounded on professional conduct and ethnics, combined with the very best in travel consulting and arranging custom and packaged holidays, we are a team committed to give you the best of Bhutan.

Today, the BTC family has grown with over 15 highly professional, skilled and experienced local staff members operating within the country with additional networks and partner off-shore agents abroad.  The BTC staffs are young dynamic individuals who possess a compelling field experience but also are highly qualified people with academic backgrounds in Tourism, Hospitality and Information Technology. Our credentials within the country have given us the recognition of a responsible business which translates to a decent purchasing leverage especially in terms of flight Tickets (that are always notoriously overbooked), hotel bookings, visa processes and permits to special places, emergency evacuations etc.

Our Winning Formula

Our winning formula – “‘Word-of-mouth’ is everything”!! We give you an unparalleled holiday experience and our guests are inspired to recommend our services to others. Almost 80% of our guests are through Word-of-mouth recommended by previous visitors.

In order to prepare you for such an unforgettable experience we are undeterred in our commitment to understand you, your aspirations and expectations of a holiday in Bhutan, about your preferences and attitudinal patterns that drive you to choose us as your host. We’ve been lauded for personalising small things that adds value to your overall experience – personalised Bhutanese cooking classes, traditional arts and crafts classes, a game of archery, golf, tennis, motorcycling and mountain biking, invitation to private Bhutanese homes to witness our way of life and rituals, fostering volunteerism like being part of a traditional house construction, making you part of the harvesting season to pluck apples and chillies et al. According to our guests, being able to tailor to last-minute special interests needs stand out as a distinct hallmark of Bhutan Travel Club.

As a well established reliable Bhutan host, we are simply known for offering our guests a ‘peace of mind booking experience’ as our ‘Booking unit’ is equipped with years of accumulated experience. For an eye for every detail and more importantly the realisation that logistics greatly contribute to the overall travel experience, we make your travel arrangement arguably the most effortless one in Bhutan.

Field Expertise – One thing is for sure, we have the most capable tour leaders in the country!

Our Tour Leaders, Cultural and Trekking guides are all certified by the Tourism Council of Bhutan and are members of the Guides Association of Bhutan. While some of them have been with us from the very start, others are selected based on a minimum of 5 years field experience, numbers of refreshers courses undertaken, good spoken and written English and overall personality assessments. Some of our guides who started as freshers have now progressively reached the level of Tour Leaders based on their performance and feedback from our guests over the years. The trekking cooks are also certified by the Tourism Council of Bhutan and have availed several re-fresher’s courses from reputed hotels and some of them are also hired by the hospitality training institutes as resource speakers. Our trekking staffs are certified and trained in areas of handling basic AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness), first aid and hygiene standards to deliver an added dimension to care for you during trekking. We are proud to have some of the most seasoned tour leaders and trekking cooks in the country to share their experiences with you.
