About this property
Four valleys make up Bumthang — Chokhor, Tang, Ura and Chhume — and between them they hold more old temples per mile of road than anywhere else in Bhutan. Most visitors base themselves in Chokhor, around Jakar, where the dzong sits on its ridge above the Chamkhar Chhu and the valley floor is buckwheat, apple orchards and grazing.
Valley Resort is one of the mid-range properties serving that base, and the kind of comfortable, unremarkable Bhutanese resort that works well for the two or three nights Bumthang deserves. The point of staying here is what is outside it: Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey and Tamshing, and the easy walks up the Chokhor valley.
