About this property
Thimphu is the only capital city in the world without a traffic light, and still small enough to cross on foot: one main street running along the Wang Chhu, the dzong at the northern end, the weekend market down by the river, and the great Buddha Dordenma looking over the whole valley from the southern ridge. Most itineraries give the city two nights, usually near the start of a trip, while altitude and jet lag settle.
Tashi Yoedling is a mid-range city hotel of the kind Thimphu does well โ comfortable, unfussy and in the bracket most Bhutan itineraries actually run on. We use hotels like it when the budget is going on the eastern half of a trip, or when travellers would simply rather spend their evenings out in the town than in a hotel lobby.
Why we like it
