About this property
A capital of a hundred thousand or so, Thimphu fills a long narrow valley along the Wang Chhu, ringed by forested ridges and famously still without a traffic light. Pemako is one of the newest luxury addresses in the city, and a Bhutanese-owned name rather than an international chain.
It is a full-service five-star property, and the one we suggest when a guest wants the Tashichho Dzong, the weekend market and the capital’s restaurants within easy reach but is not willing to trade down on comfort. Most itineraries give Thimphu two nights, either side of Punakha or before the drive back over the Dochu La, and this is our top-end choice for them.
