About this property
As the name says, this one is on the river — the Paro Chhu, on the flat valley floor with the hills rising behind and both the airport and the town’s main street a few minutes away. Paro is where most itineraries begin, and being this close to the runway matters more than travellers expect when a flight leaves at dawn.
It is a full-service international hotel rather than a Bhutanese one, run by Marriott under the Le Méridien name and sister to the group’s Thimphu property. We use it for guests who want a predictable, western-standard base in Paro, and for groups too large for the valley’s smaller heritage places.
Why we like it
- On the bank of the Paro Chhu
- Minutes from Paro international airport
- Marriott’s second Bhutan property, after Le Méridien Thimphu
