About this property
Khangkhu sits on the floor of the Paro valley a little downstream of the town, close enough to the airport that arriving guests are checked in within minutes of landing, and close enough to Paro itself that dinner out is a short drive. The valley is broad and flat here — barley and rice terraces, willows along the Paro Chhu, and the ridges climbing away on both sides.
It is a straightforward Bhutanese tourist resort of the kind we book often for a first or last night in the country: unfussy, well run, and staffed by people used to the odd hours Paro’s flight schedule imposes. Guests walking up to Taktsang have the trailhead a short drive north; anyone with a spare afternoon can follow the river into town.
Why we like it
- A few minutes from Paro international airport
- A short drive from the Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) trailhead
- On the floor of the Paro valley, close to town
