About this property
Hotel Druk has stood over the Clock Tower Square since long before Thimphu had international chains, and it remains the best-located hotel in the city: step out of the lobby and you are in the square, with Norzin Lam and the craft shops immediately beyond.
The rooms were refurbished in the current Bhutanese-contemporary idiom — painted timber detailing, heavy curtains, good bathrooms — and the hotel keeps a bar, a coffee shop and a restaurant that stays open later than most in town. It has hosted visiting delegations for decades and the service reflects that.
It suits travellers who want to walk to dinner rather than drive, and who value a central address over a valley view. Tashichho Dzong, the Textile Museum and the Saturday vegetable market are all a short walk or a very short taxi ride away.
