About this property
Phuentsholing sits where Bhutan runs out of mountains and meets the Indian plains — a hot, busy border town of trucks, traders and the ornate gate that marks the frontier. Travellers arriving overland from Bagdogra or Siliguri clear immigration here, and it is the last stop for anyone leaving the country by road.
This is a town hotel rather than a destination. It belongs to the long-established Druk Hotels group, stands a few minutes from the border gate in the middle of the commercial grid, and is used almost entirely as a one-night stop at either end of a journey. We book guests in when the overland route makes more sense than flying into Paro, and when an early start north towards Thimphu is on the plan.
Why we like it
- A few minutes from the Bhutan–India border gate
- The standard overnight stop for overland arrivals and departures
- Part of the long-established Druk Hotels group
