About this property
Punakha is the warm valley: low, green, thick with rice terraces where the Pho Chhu and the Mo Chhu run together, and mild enough in winter that the country’s monastic body still moves down here for the season. Aum Leki’s is a family home in that landscape rather than a hotel — guests eat what the household eats and sleep under the same roof.
Homestays are among the best things we book and the least predictable. Rooms are simple, the evening is spent in the kitchen rather than a lounge, and the household sets the rhythm of the day. A night here does more to explain Bhutan than a week of dzongs, and it suits travellers who arrive curious rather than with a checklist.
Why we like it
