About this property
Reaching this one means leaving the car and crossing the Mo Chhu on a suspension footbridge. The lodge stands on the far bank among orange trees and rice terraces, built around a restored traditional farmhouse. Punakha is warm and low, the old winter capital, and the great dzong at the river confluence is a few minutes downstream.
Of all the Amankora lodges this is the one that feels rooted in a working landscape rather than set apart from it: farmland on every side, the river audible from the terrace, and a walk through the fields straight from the door. It pairs naturally with the Paro and Gangtey lodges on a western circuit.
