About this property
Olathang is the wooded shoulder of hillside north-west of Paro town, above the valley floor and the airport, planted with blue pine and old apple orchard. It is high enough to look back down the length of the valley and quiet enough that the only traffic is the road up from town — a few minutes by car, or a pleasant walk down and a less pleasant one back up.
Olathang Cottages are individual cottages set among the orchards on the slope above the main Olathang hotel. They suit travellers who would rather have their own front door and some space around it than a corridor and a lift, and they put you on the right side of the valley for an early start: the dzong and the old town are a short drive below, and the Tiger’s Nest trailhead is under half an hour away.
