About this property
Where you stay in the capital matters less than it does in Paro or Punakha — Thimphu is compact, and nothing in it is far from anything else. What varies is character, and Norkhil is a four-star boutique hotel rather than one of the international-branded blocks: mid-size, and Bhutanese in feel.
The capital earns one or two nights on most itineraries. There is the Tashichho Dzong at the north end of town, the weekend market down by the river, an archery ground within earshot of the main street, and then the drive over the Dochu La to Punakha. This suits guests who would rather spend those nights somewhere with a sense of place than somewhere interchangeable.
