About this property
The Paro valley absorbs more visitors than anywhere else in Bhutan, and its accommodation runs the full range — from lodges charging four figures a night down to plain, perfectly decent town hotels. Shomo Chuki belongs to the middle of that range.
Which is often the right place to be. Paro is compact: the dzong, the National Museum, Kyichu Lhakhang and the Taktsang trailhead are all short drives apart, so a modest base costs very little in convenience. The money saved usually does more good spent on guiding, on timing the trip around a festival, or on an extra night further east.
Why we like it
- In the Paro valley, the arrival and departure point for almost every visit to Bhutan
- Short drives to Paro Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang and the Taktsang trailhead
