About this property
Two nights in Paro is the standard shape of a Bhutan itinerary — one to settle in after the flight, one built around the walk up to the Tiger’s Nest. The valley makes that easy: a broad floor of paddy and buckwheat at around 2,200 metres, the Paro Chhu running down the middle, blue pine on the slopes, and everything of interest within twenty minutes of everything else.
Himalayan Forest Keys is a four-star resort serving those nights. Paro’s mid-to-upper tier properties are generally quieter and better sited than the older hotels in town, and they are what we book for guests who want a comfortable first and last night in the country without paying luxury-lodge rates.
Why we like it
- In the Paro valley, close to Bhutan's only international airport
- A short drive from the Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) trailhead
