About this property
Far eastern Bhutan gets a fraction of the visitors the western valleys do, and Trashigang — stacked on a spur above the Drangme Chhu — is its capital. Druk Deothjung stands about three kilometres outside the town on the river side, which puts the water below you and the hills of Trashigang dzongkhag all around.
The east has few properties of any size, and this is one of the dependable ones: a modern resort building with the comforts a traveller wants after a long day on mountain roads. Guests generally use it as the base for Rangjung and Radhi and the drive on towards Merak, or as the last stop before turning south for Samdrup Jongkhar.
Why we like it
- Three kilometres from Trashigang town, above the Drangme Chhu
- A base for Rangjung, Radhi and the road towards Merak and Sakteng
- A practical last stop before the descent to Samdrup Jongkhar
